This is the most useful program I’ve come across for Chinese flashcards. It’s fast, simple, and has most of the features I want in flashcard a program. I just wish someone continued to develop it because I think there is room for improvement as described above.

I guess what I’m just pushing those more skilled than I at s/w development to pick up where it was left off, because studying Chinese is hard and this program makes it much much easier!!!

Hey Chris,

I love this app and I would also like to contribute. However, I am having the same issues as the person above.

I followed all of the instructions and I wasn’t able to get it to compile.

Can you (or anyone that has successfully compiled it) send me some more detailed instructions?

Have you checked out the developer guide at
http://zdt.sourceforge.net/main/developer_guide/

It should at least help you get up an running. If you still have questions about it though, let me know.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your answer. I checked the source through sourceforge’s SVN. However, I have some problems. Actually, it’s more related to the structure than something else.

If I understand well, in root, there are many small projects. I was able to checkout each of them in different projects in my eclipse. However, I’m unable to find the entry point, the main Main in order to run the app. In addition, it seems some external libraries (jar) are missing…

Do you have any idea? Do you have an up2date how-to in order to check out your whole project?

Unfortunately, I haven’t updated ZDT in almost 2 years now. I just don’t have the time anymore. The source though is available for anyone to play with and if someone wants to contribute, just let me know and I can add you as a developer to the project.

I’m wondering if this project is not supported anymore and the dev. is dead.

I’m trying to run it in linux x64 but the lib used are all 32 and thus make the program crashes…

Are you using a font that starts with a @? Those are the fonts that get rotated strangely. Try one without it.

well it dosnt show up when i browse the folders or when I use the flashcard function.

I have now found that if I increase the font size so that the characters all tilt horizontally, I can see all of them. But when I again use a lower font size so that they read vertically they disappear.

Is there a way to see the flashcard characters verticaly at the same time as the dictionary shows them horizontally? =)
