0.6.0 New and Noteworthy

I’ve been quite busy recently which hopefully explains the lack of updates for the past few weeks. Still, I’ve had a little bit of time to polish up the 0.6.0 release and now, here it is. You can download the new release here.

Highlights

Stroke Order Animations. Thanks to Erik Peterson (www.mandarintools.com) and mandarinstudent (on chinese-forums.com), I’ve integrated their work into the ZDT. There are about 1600 stroke order animations available which are accessible from the Dictionary view and Category editors.

ZDT Stroke Order Animation

Built in Chinese IME support. It’s still in an experimental state, but its inspired by and based on the same data as the CantoInput project by John Burket. Now you can type chinese characters inside the program without the need of an external chinese IME.

ZDT IME

Improved Flashcard UI. Improvements like wrapping long text and showing scrollbars when necessary. Flashcards can now show simplified and traditional characters together (configured through a preference). Definition Test also supports showing all definitions of an entry instead of just a random one.

Updated Help. Still a work in progress, but a little better than before. :)

Plus, there were many bugs that were fixed. Check out the changelog for more details.
