So what’s going on?
May 24th, 2007
Sorry for the lack of updates to the blog. I just wanted to let people know the status of the next release. Version 0.7.0 is currently going through a private “beta” testing process. Once I’ve gone through the feedback, I will create a public beta release on Sourceforge for everyone to try. So keep your eye out. I want your feedback.

I’ve gotten several things into the next build but there are a couple of popular feature requests I’d like to get in. Things are progressing slowly, but they are progressing. =) If you’re technically savvy, you can checkout the latest from SVN and play with some of the new things.

Hello (sorry, my english is poor)
I have now studied Chinese for 6 months and my classmate tell me about this program. I think it is good but I wonder how to train characters in flashcards mode ? I think write characters is the most hard part in Chinese, so this is where I need help. Some times in school our teacher give us the “ting1 xie3″, and reads words and then we write the character. I think this will be a great idea for zdt if you can test the characters.
Maybe you can make it like the other program called “Chinese homework trainer” and you can see the pinyin and the english and then you have to write the character. Then you could write the character yourself first on a paper then use the keyboard to write the character.
Like the “test pinyin flashcards” but you have to write the character instead of the pinyin. I believe many people is the same like me and want this.

What if I modified the Self Review mode to be able to show two things at once? (ie. english and pinyin) Then you could write the character on paper if you wanted. Would that accomplish what you want?

Is this program still being actively updated? It looks like no changes have been made in about four months. I’ve been holding off on using another program waiting for some of the changes people have asked for. Will they be coming?

The program is still being updated, although maybe not as actively as before. There is a 0.7.0 beta 1 release out that is available upon request. Just send me an email (fongcn at gmail.com) What were the most important changes that you would like to see Tom? I know I’ve implemented some, but not all.

Thanks for a great program! Well done!
I am missing a function that is pretty important in my view though. Would like to be able to have an option whether to repeat a flashcard or not, especially in self review mode. As it is now, the only option is to loop through them all. Would be great to be able to override if a card will be shown again during the current session in the other modes as well, but that’s not as important.
Cheers!
