ZDT wiki page

July 9th, 2007

Sourceforge has recently added a wiki function that projects can use so I’m testing it out right now. The ZDT wiki can be accessed here: http://zdt.wiki.sourceforge.net/ZDT

It’s currently public to everyone, but that might change depending on whether it starts getting spam on it… So feel free to contribute. I will be expanding it more in the future.

    Hi

It’s been two more months and still no news about the update ?

I think that maybe you should not add that many complicated flashy functions that few people will use, and concentrate more on adding simple functions that allot of people will use.

Pretty much everyone that use this program, uses it mainly to test their Chinese with the flashcard function.

So, if you ask me, the most important things are thoose things that has anything to do with that. Simple things, like the ability to sort the categories after name/number of words/date created, adding the ability to see the pinyin and the translation and guess the character, adding new exciting test modes etc.

Things like adding a web browser (I think I heard rumors about that) and stuff like that, are functions that less than 1% will feel are helpfull and will only make the program bigger and more memory eating.

I know that the program is free and that I have no right what so ever to tell you what to do. I only felt that I might tell you what I think.

    Hi Daniel,

Any slowness on my part regarding ZDT development is due to my other life commitments. All features currently being worked on now and in the future are things that people have requested.

The web browser has been part of the ZDT since the initial release…and took basically no effort to put in. Where are you hearing these rumors at? =)

I’m very close to getting a public beta out. Hopefully this week you will see it. Although I don’t think the specific features you were requesting are in there. An overhaul of the Self Review test is planned in the next release.

    Chris
